An-Naher Hotel |
Larger rooms have balcony, air con., minibar,
satellite TV, phone. Rated "top end" at Lonely Planet
(LP): This would be one of the best choices in the lower top-end
range were it not in the noisy heart of the Ar-Rashid Street
district. |
Ar-Rashid district, Tariq Street, Tel: 333
4645, Fax: 444 4690 |
| - |
Bab Al-Jadid |
Rated "mid range" by LP: Newly opened
in 2001, the Bab Al-Jadid is excellent value. Staff are eager
to please and rooms are spacious, spotless and well appointed.
No air-con in most rooms. |
Al-Corniche Street, Tel: 335 0670 |
| - |
Al Wahat Hotel |
Rated "mid range" by LP: While you
can probably find better value elsewhere, the rooms here are
still decent value. |
Omar Al-Mukhtar Street, P.O. Box 10799, Tel:
361 2021, 361 2038, Fax: 361 2039 |
| - |
Qasr Libya Hotel |
Also: Gaser Libya Hotel; Rated "mid range"
by LP: This rambling place is big, busy and has seen better
days; it definetely pays to look at as many rooms as possible.
The management is friendly and most of the jaded rooms (all
with air-con) are clean. However, hot water can take an age
to arrive and sometimes doesn't. |
Dahra district; Sidi Issa Street, P.O. Box
727Tel: 3350676; Fax: 3350689 |
| - |
Bab Al-Medina Hotel |
Rated "mid range" by LP: Immediately
next to Bab Al-Jadid, this place is not bad, but that's about
it. The rooms with sea views are better but the absence of air-con
can be punishing in summer |
Al-Corniche Street, P.O. Box 10619, Tel: 3350650
/ 69; Fax 3350675 |
| - |
Medeteranian Hotel |

Central Youth Hostel |
Buyut Ash-Shabaab; Rated "budget"
by LP: The location is ideal and the shared bathrooms are fine,
but otherwise it's a pretty basic place. |
69 Amr Ibn Al As, Tel: 4445171, Fax: 333 0118 |
| - |
Gargaresh Youth Hostel |
Buyut Ash-Shabaab; Rated "budget"
by LP: This well-run hostel, located 5km south of the town centre
in the lively disrict of Gargaresh, is marinally better than
its more central counterpart, although it's a long way from
Tripoli's sights. |
Off Gargaresh Street; Tel: 4776694, 4474755 |
| - |
Al-Jawda Hotel |
Rated "mid range" by LP: The cheapest
rooms can be a bit cell-like although the north-facing oes are
better. The suites (with two bathrooms, a sitting area and balcony)
are comfy, though far from palatial, and some are quite run-down. |
Al-Corniche Street, Tel: 4446908 / 9 |
| - |
Al Wadan Hotel |
Also: Al-Waddan; Rated "mid range"
by LP: It's certainly not the five-star hotel it claims to be,
but is nonetheless comforable and still good value in the upper
mid-range bracket. There's a restaurant, car-rental agency and
a bank branch. |
Sidi Issa Street, P.O. Box 2309, Tel: 3330041/
5, Fax: 444 5601 |
| - |
Al Maghrib Al Arabi Hotel |
|
Tel: 4832301 / 2 |
| - |
Atlas Hotel |
Rated "budget" by LP: The friendly
Funduq Atlas has basic, but perfectly habitable rooms. Some
bathrooms are better than others so ask to see a few rooms;
the hot water is generally reliable. The location, on busy Omar
Al-Mukhtar Street and a fair walk to Green Square isn't brilliant,
but is decent value. |
Omar Al Mokhtar Street, Tel: 3336815 / 6 |
| - |
Bahr Al-Abyad Hotel |
Rated "budget" by LP: It's easier
to list the things wrong with this thotel than its good points...
For Tripoli, however, its simple rooms with private bathroom
are not bad budget value and certainly preferable to many elsewhere. |
Off Omar Al-Mukhtar Street, Tel: 361 6711/4,
Fax: 361 6710 |
| - |
As-Siyahe Hotel |
Rated "budget" by LP: This is far
and away teh best and cleanest budget choice in the Ar-Rshid
and Maidan As-Sawayhli area. The rooms (all with very clean
shared bathrooms) are tidy and simple. There is little English
spoken, although the staff make up for this in general goodwill.
If the lift isn't working, it's quite a climb if your room is
on the 5th floor. You can, however, walk to Geen Square with
much less effort. |
Al-Jamila Street, Tel: 4448372 |
| - |
Al-Manar Hotel |
Rated "budget" by LP: Around the
corner from As-Siyahe Hotel, this place is pretty bleak and
unappealing, with shared bathrooms. |
Al-Mameet Street |
| - |
Al-Ma'moun Hotel |
Rated "budget" by LP: Also handy
for transport, the rooms (singles with shared bathroom, doubles
with private bathroom) here are uninspring and overpriced. |
Al-Ma'moun Street, Tel: 3333372 |
| - |
Marhaba Hotel |

El Nasr Hotel |
Also: Funduq An-Nasr; Rated "budget"
by LP: A favourite for furtive rendezvous and for once you may
be glad of the street noise to drown out the activities of your
neighbours. Convenience for the bus and shared-taxi stations
is the only virtue as the rooms are pretty grotty. Bathrooms
are shared. |

Al-Mehari Hotel |
LP: This is Sebha's most expensive hotel,
but if you're not here on government business or for a conference,
the serivice can range from indifferent to downright slurly.
The rooms, with private bathroom, are very comfortable if a
tad sterile. |

Al-Jebel Hotel |
LP: This fully renovated hotel of long-standing
occupies a hilltop location, which is great at sunset. The rooms
have a private bathroom and air-con.This is probably the best
value accommodation in Sebha, but it's miles from anywhere and
it can be difficult to find a taxi. |

Kala Hotel |
LP: The comforable and clean rooms (no air-con,

overlook the 1970s feel. |

Afriqiya Hotel |
LP: Easily recognisable by the row of flags
from African and other Muslim states out the front. The rooms
(non air-con, with private bath) are a tad faded, but otherwise
reasonable value and some upper floors have good balcony views
over th twon. The water supply is erratic. |

Youth Hostel (Buyut Ash-Shabaab) |
LP: After a bright start a few years back,

grubby. It's often filled with dusty sub-Sharan Africans recovering
